Transport in supply networks

چکیده
Purpose The purpose of the paper is to analyse how transport activities are embedded in supply chains and networks. Design/methodology/approach empirically grounded a single case study that describes analyses chain particular product, Geocloth, focussing on organised network. Findings concludes two related settings – setting network with implications for adjustments can be made increase performance. Furthermore, shows performance analysed as function business relationships connected vertically (i.e. sequentially within chains) horizontally across regard joint resource use). Originality/value contributes understanding integrated networks by connections between pointing both settings.

Optimal transport on supply-demand networks.
In the literature, transport networks are usually treated as homogeneous networks, that is, every node has the same function, simultaneously providing and requiring resources. However, some real networks, such as power grids and supply chain networks, show a far different scenario in which nodes are classified into two categories: supply nodes provide some kinds of services, while demand nodes ...
متن کاملSupply Function Equilibria in Networks with Transport Constraints
Transport constraints limit competition and arbitrageurs’possibilities of exploiting price differences between goods in neighbouring markets, especially when storage capacity is negligible. We analyse this in markets where strategic producers compete with supply functions, as in wholesale electricity markets. For networks with a radial structure, we show that existence of supply function equili...
متن کاملPredictive Control of Gas Injection in Natural Gas Transport Networks
The present sought to draw a comparison between Model Predictive Control performance and two other controllers named Simple PI and Selective PI in controlling large-scale natural gas transport networks. A nonlinear dynamic model of representative gas pipeline was derived from pipeline governing rules and simulated in SIMULINK® environment of MATLAB®. Control schemes were designed to provide a s...
متن کاملModeling Supply Networks and Business Cycles as Unstable Transport Phenomena
Physical concepts developed to describe instabilities in traffic flows can be generalized in a way that allows one to understand the wellknown instability of supply chains (the so-called “bullwhip effect”). That is, small variations in the consumption rate can cause large variations in the production rate of companies generating the requested product. Interestingly, the resulting oscillations h...
متن کاملPower Quality Improvement in Traction Power Supply Networks
AC railway traction loads are usually huge single phase loads. As a result, a significant amount of Negative Sequence Current (NSC) is injected into utility grid. Moreover, harmonics and consumption ofreactive power are further power quality problems that the supply network is encountering. In this paper, acompensation strategy with the aid of Railway Power Conditioner (RPC) is proposed to over...
